I'm Annoyed

I'm so annoyed by parents who don't teach their kids how to respect other people. That seems to be a huge problem today. I can't believe the lack of respect kids have today towards their elders and leaders. Why can't parents take some initiative and do their job! Is it just because they are lazy? What is the deal? Someone explain this to me I'm at a loss.

  2. I hear you! I just blogged about a good thing when it comes to respect, because yes, I think it's a lost art. It's all about parenting!

  4. Explanation: The world is more selfish place. When people are more selfish, there is less respect. Period.

  5. Hi Melissa! Thank you so much for dropping by my blog and introducing yourself. I find you extremely fascinating!

I do everything I can to teach my kids manners and to respect adults. I also teach them to speak with them without intimidation, as in that the adults are not better than they are. I've come across adults who think kids aren't worth their salt and disrespect them and that really infuriates me. I was intimidated by adults when growing up and didn't know how to relate to them.

My teen girl has excellent rapport with adults. If she is cowed by one, I know the adult is doing something wrong--I've seen it happen with one of her teachers at school where the teacher made her hang her head. My girl is NOT one to do that, she'll come up to you, look you in the eye, and ask you how you are doing with a smile and genuine interest.

Did you also notice that there is hardly any place with excellent customer service anymore? One place where there still is is Home Depot. The employees come up to you with a smile on their faces and are extremely helpful.

I agree with the Redhead Riter--this world is becoming more and more selfish. I strongly believe it all starts in the home.

If parents disrespect their kids, their kids will disrespect adults. To create strong, healthy-minded kids, I believe we should go back to the olden days where mothers stayed home and taught their children values.

Sorry for taking so much space here, but this world is rotting quickly!

  7. I agree that the world is getting more and more selfish. It's sad to think what kind of world our children are growing up in.
