Let the Festivities Begin!

Thanksgiving is over and the 24/7 Christmas music has begun. Although on some radio stations that actually started the day after Halloween. And there was no way I was going to start listening then. I love Christmas but NOT that much. :-)

Soon the tree will go up and then the gingerbread houses will be created and the snow will fall followed by all the decorations, yummy hot cocoa and the caroling. Did I mention that I love Christmas?

The only problem with Christmas is that I kind of have a love-hate relationship with it. I hate the commercial part of the holiday but LOVE the spirit of it. Everyone seems different this time of year. More giving, more caring, and less selfish. But by the time the Christmas shopping and planning and socializing and caroling is over, I’m ready for like a year long break. Not to mention the clean up and decoration take-down. I’d rather stand in the snow with now socks on!

I guess what I’m trying to say is…welcome to the first week of December with me. May your holiday season be filled with peace and goodwill to all your men. And may we not be driven crazy by the crowds and the arctic blasts and the bells.

  1. I love Christmas too, but not in the "my world is only wonderful this time of year" way. Our shopping list has whittled down to only the kids and a couple of neighbors. No stress at all! Plus, we really place emphasis on the WHY of the holiday, and our boys' attitudes reflect that. I just can't believe it's that time of year already!

  2. Julie,

That is wonderful! It's so great that you teach your children why Christmas is so important. I know it all goes by so fast!

  3. Hi Melissa!
You stopped by my blog before Thanksgiving and left a sweet comment ... I am so sorry it's taken me this long to return the favor!

I'm so with you on this ... I love the spirit of Christmas, the meaning of Christmas, but not all the commercialism and expectations. This year I'm doing most of my shopping online and am going to focus on doing a few meaningful things, but not run myself ragged. I don't think that's what God had in mind. ;0)

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'm following you now.
